Dr. Tara Dall is a third generation primary care physician and Wisconsin native, following in the footsteps of her father, James Dall and grandfather Dr. Glenn Dall. Her medical education began at the University of Wisconsin Madison for undergraduate, medical school training and family medicine residency. Dr. Dall has strong family ties to Waukesha County.
She started her medical career working side by side with her father as a full time family practitioner at Moreland Family Medical Associates, Waukesha, Wisconsin in 2001. Her primary care practice had a strong emphasis in women’s health, preventive medicine, and sexual health. Recognizing there was a need for more cardiovascular primary prevention services especially in traditionally under-served population of women and children she decided in 2005 to leave her practice and become certified in clinical lipidology.
Dr. Dall has over 10 years experience utilizing lipid testing (NMR) to detect genetic heart disease risk. Dr. Dall graduated in the first class of Diplomates of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology in November 2005, and is one of a handful of United States physicians treating pediatric dyslipidemia.
With the support of ProHealth Care’s Women Center she helped create the Cholesterol & Lifestyle Center in 2006 with the goal to identify and reduce a woman’s risk of cardiovascular disease using the latest in medical technologies and aggressive risk factor management The medical practice had a primary focus on preventive cardiology in women and high risk children, though men made up 50% of her practice so the clinic was transitioned out of women’s health and into Preventive Cardiology in order to serve men, women and children of all ages.
The National Lipid Association recognizes her clinic as the first fully certified lipid clinic in the United States. In 2007 she was the recipient of Mayo Clinic’s award for “Innovations in Preventive Cardiology.” In June 2008 she transitioned to private practice and created Advanced Lipidology, Early Detection Center for Heart Disease and Diabetes.
She has a special research interest in advanced lipid testing and B Mode ultrasound technology (CIMT), women’s heart disease, polycystic ovarian syndrome and pediatric obesity. She is involved in CIMT research in collaboration with UW-Madison. She believes strongly in being an educator and serves as clinical preceptor for Medical College of WI medicine residents.
Because of her passion and expertise, Dr. Dall has been asked to lecture in every venue from hospital and medical school grand rounds to large-scale community events. She also has appeared on Milwaukee’s FOX news and WISN-TV, and has been a keynote speaker for the American Heart Association GO RED for women community events. She's participated in ReachMD satellite radio. Radio Health Journal, CNN Health Radio and many more media outlets.
Dr. Dall is a President Elect and an elected Executive Board member of the Midwest Lipid Association.
Dr. Dall believes in taking a compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental approach to caring for her patients and uses a strength-based approach to counseling patients regarding making behavioral changes.
